The short version
Your training data lives on your device first. If you create a cloud account, it syncs — encrypted in transit — to infrastructure we control, scoped to your user ID, and is never sold, shared, or used for advertising. Export or delete everything, anytime, free.
What we collect
Account: email address and display name (for sign-in and sync).
Training data you create: workouts, sets, routines, personal records, body measurements, notes, and coach recommendations derived from them.
Imported data: files you explicitly import (e.g. JEFIT/Hevy/Strong exports) are parsed on your device; the results become part of your training data.
Pre-release builds contain no analytics SDKs, no ad SDKs, and no trackers.
Optional supporter purchase
Setminded offers an optional one-time supporter purchase through Google Play. Google
Play processes payment information under Google's
privacy policy. RevenueCat receives the purchase token and identifiers needed to
validate and restore ownership under RevenueCat's
privacy policy. We do not receive card or bank details, and purchase information is
used only to provide and restore the supporter entitlement, never for advertising.
Where it lives
On your device: the primary copy, in local app storage. The app is fully functional offline.
In the cloud (optional): when cloud sync is enabled, data syncs to a private AWS environment (Amazon Cognito for authentication, Amazon RDS PostgreSQL for storage, us-east-1). Every query is scoped to your authenticated user.
How long we keep it
While your account is open: we retain your training data for as long as your account exists, because the app's whole purpose is showing you your history over time. We do not impose an expiry on your own records.
When you delete individual data: Settings → Danger zone → "Delete all my data" removes your training data from the device immediately and from our cloud database within 30 days.
When you delete your account: account deletion removes your account record and all associated training data from our systems within 30 days. See account & data deletion.
Encrypted backups: deleted data may persist in encrypted database backups for up to a further 35 days, after which the backups themselves expire and the data is unrecoverable. We do not restore backups to bring deleted data back.
Health Connect data: retained only in local app storage on your device. It is never uploaded, so it is deleted the moment you uninstall the app or use Settings → Health Connect → "Forget health data".
If you never create a cloud account: nothing is retained by us at all — there is no server-side copy to keep.
Health Connect (Android)
If you connect Health Connect, Setminded asks for two permissions and no others. You can decline either and the rest of the app works unchanged.
Read sleep sessions — used to show your sleep trend alongside your training.
Write exercise sessions — so workouts you log in Setminded appear in Health Connect and in the other health apps you use.
Data read from Health Connect never leaves your device. It is stored in local app storage, is not part of cloud sync, is never transmitted to our servers, and is not backed up to our infrastructure. Uninstalling the app, or Settings → Health Connect → "Forget health data", deletes our copy of it. Revoking access in Health Connect stops any further reads.
We do not request heart-rate variability, resting heart rate, menstruation or any other reproductive-health record type, and we do not read steps, body weight, nutrition or location from Health Connect.
We do not use Health Connect data for advertising, do not sell or share it, do not transfer it to any third party, and do not use it to derive any information about you beyond the recovery trend shown in the app. Setminded's use of Health Connect data conforms to the Health Connect Permissions policy, including the Limited Use requirements.
What we never do
Sell or rent your data.
Use your health or training data for advertising.
Read your data except as needed to operate the service or as required by law.
Your rights (GDPR / CCPA and common decency)
Export: Settings → Your data → Export gives you full-fidelity JSON or CSV, free, always.
Delete: Settings → Danger zone → "Delete all my data" wipes training data. See account & data deletion for full account removal.
Correct: everything is editable in-app.
Health disclaimer
Setminded stores fitness data you choose to log and produces training suggestions from deterministic rules. It provides information, not medical advice, and never shares health data with third parties.
Children
Setminded is not directed at children under 13 (or the applicable minimum age in your region) and we do not knowingly collect their data.
